Dina Bern (Guatemala, 1952) writes short stories, novellas, and articles on sociology, psychology, and education, which have been published in several countries and online. She moved to New York City as a teenager, where she completed high school and earned a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Modification from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a division of the City University of New York. She later earned master's degrees in Sociology, Psychology, and Spanish from Lund University in Sweden. Her professional career includes working as a bilingual education teacher for the New York City Department of Education, teaching Spanish and Psychology in Swedish high schools, and serving as a project manager for non-governmental organizations. Following her retirement, and with the goal of dedicating more time to writing, she completed a doctorate in education with a specialization in research from the International Ibero-American University, funded by a FUNIBER scholarship. Under the pseudonym Dina Briones, she has written several short stories that were translated by Swedish author K. Arne Blom and published in the journal of the Southern Sweden Writers' Association, as well as in the magazine Short Stories of Crime, Detection & Mystery (CDM). In addition to writing, her interests include traveling and staying informed about political events that impact both human beings and the other species with whom we share the planet.
